Tips & Tricks

To get the best results from Smartgeotag.ai, keep these tips in mind:

Optimizing for AI Analysis

Our AI "sees" your photos much like a human expert would. It follows a systematic approach:

  1. Visual Analysis: It looks for recognizable buildings, landmarks, and infrastructure.
  2. Text Detection: It reads signs, shop names, and license plates.
  3. Cultural Markers: It identifies clothing styles, vehicles, and local customs.
  4. Environmental Clues: It analyzes vegetation, terrain, and weather patterns.
  5. Contextual Reasoning: It combines all these clues to narrow down the location.

For best results:

  • Landmarks: Photos with distinct landmarks (Eiffel Tower, Colosseum) are easiest to locate. Do not expect miracles: We will not be able to locate the image if you upload a photo of your cat in your basement.
  • Text: Images containing street signs or shop fronts provide high-confidence cues.
  • Context: Keep photos in folders named after the trip or location (e.g., "Rome Trip 2024"). The system uses these names as hints.

Managing Your Batch

  • Contextual Recognition: Enable this setting if you are processing a sequence of photos from the same trip. The AI will use the location of previous photos to narrow down the search for the next ones.
  • Manual Corrections: You can drag and drop markers on the map to fine-tune the location. This is great for photos taken in open nature where the AI might get the general region right but miss the exact spot.
  • Direct Write thumbnails: In the Direct Write picker, enable High quality thumbnails if you need sharper previews. Turn it off on slower devices to keep scrolling smooth.
