How to Use Smartgeotag.ai

Using Smartgeotag.ai is a simple 3-step process:

1. Upload Your Photos

Drag and drop your folders or individual images into the upload area. The application supports standard image formats like JPG, JPEG, WEBP, PNG, and TIFF. You can upload nested folders, and the structure will be preserved.

If your browser supports Direct Write, you can pick a folder and edit files in-place. Direct Write currently supports JPG, JPEG, and WEBP. PNG/TIFF can still be processed through the normal upload + download flow.

2. Configure & Analyze

Choose your settings in the sidebar:

  • Analysis Mode: Select "Fast" for quick results or "Accurate" for challenging images or if you want more..accurate results.
  • AI Recognition: Enable this to let our AI identify locations for photos without clear filenames.
  • Automatic location search: Enable this to let our program scan names of files and folders to identify locations. Both analysis modes can be combined for better results.
  • Output Options: Decide if you want to overwrite existing GPS and/or time data and/or rename your files.

Click "Start analysis". The system will analyze your photos one by one. If it finds ambiguous locations (e.g., multiple cities named "Paris"), it will ask you for confirmation via a simple pop-up.

3. Review & Download

As photos are processed, they appear as markers on the interactive world map.

  • Review: Click markers to see the photos.
  • Move: Drag markers to adjust the precise location if needed. File names will be upgraded with the new location if needed.
  • Download: Once finished, click the download button to get a ZIP file with your geotagged images, ready to be imported into your favorite photo management software (Lightroom, Google Photos, Apple Photos, etc.). You can download 20GB/month.
