Q: Can I process scanned film photos? A: Yes! Since scanned photos lack digital metadata, Smartgeotag.ai is perfect for them. It can deduce dates and locations from folder names or visual content.
Q: How accurate is the AI location? A: It varies by image. For famous landmarks or urban scenes with text, it can be rooftop-precise. For generic landscapes (e.g., a random beach or forest), it may only identify the region or country. You can always adjust the location manually on the map.
Q: Which file formats are supported? A: Standard uploads support JPG, JPEG, WEBP, PNG, and TIFF. Direct Write (in-place) currently supports JPG, JPEG, and WEBP. You can always use the classic upload + ZIP download flow for PNG/TIFF.
Q: Are credits used for file that already have GPS coordinates? A: No, we only charge you with 1 credit if the analysis of the file (AI and/or name extraction) has actually been completed or if you move the marker on the map more than 4 times (every move implies reverse geocoding for the new position). We do NOT charge for skipped files or simple operations such as renaming files.
